  • Youtube Integration for Codes

For those of us hackers that like to make videos of our codes in action and upload them to Youtube, you can now include a Youtube video ID to embed your video with your code details.

Hackers, just copy the video ID from your youtube link. If you click the Share button on the video's page on youtube, it's the X's in http://youtu.be/XXXXXXXXX

Personally, I use real hardware when I can, and capture it with my Elgato Game Capture HD.

Now users can see videos of the codes in action!

Another reason why our site is the BEST for video game codes!

    and

    for examples!
Please put all complaints in writing and submit them here.

Suggestion... How about some way of indicating which codes have a video?

This is a nice feature. Thanks! I'm with Tony on some sort of video indicator. I know this might be suggested eventually, but can you make a custom player to make YouTube (we have the control of the video being removed instead of them) and Flash optional (use as a fallback). I've seen that "Video unavailable" (something along those lines) message one too many times this past week. This blog post by the Opera dev team sparked the idea. I don't expect this to be done, as server cost(s) might be an issue.

That's a definite consideration. I also think it would be cool to have a page that showcases the latest videos.

I've thought of that. Hosting the video ourselves would be a lot more work for me, and a lot more bandwidth/disk space cost. I don't think we'll have any of our videos removed, but if we do, we will remove the link. We don't want to condone any copyright infringement or anything of the sort.

In other words, if Youtube says it can't be shown, then we do as well. However, if there is anything I can do to improve compatibility of the youtube video, I'm all ears.

              Awesome feature, @rimsky82!

Although, you're made a mistake about the videos for one of you codes for NES Tetris - "Always get ? Piece".. For all pieces site loads a same video which shows only the effect for the code for Straight Piece (which is the last piece in modifier list)...

Very cool. Now we just need a "Like" system for codes to where the top liked codes would be displayed somewhere along with the top liked hackers (based on who hacked the most liked codes). You could have a "Like" button (thumbs up maybe) next to each code, and a red "X" next to the "Like" button just in-case the person wanted to remove their vote. You would have to be signed in to like a code, and you could only like a particular code once (to prevent multiple likes on a single code from a particular user). Just a thought as it would be nice to what codes users consider their favorites, along with what hacker is on top of the list at that time. Just a thought, but I think it would be neat.

                Added videos for:

Double Dragon (USA, Europe) [Atari Lynx]

                Code:
                Hit Anywhere
Power Rangers - Samurai (USA) (En,Fr,Es) [NDS]

                Code:
                Enemies Automatically Die
                Hit Anywhere/Collect Anywhere
                Tekken Advance (USA) [GBA]

                Code:
                Hit Anywhere
Zelda - The Wand of Gamelon (USA) [CD-i]

                Code:
                Hit Anywhere
Not taking any requests at this time.

Bored? Watch some of my hacks here.

One video per code, not per modifier. Not a mistake.

I think what I'm going to do is, instead of embedding the video in the table, I'm going to put an icon on the list that will bring up a lightbox with the video in it when clicked. That should keep things clean.
