Has anyone been able to get the USB to parallel printer cable to work with the GSCC or any other program that works with the n64 gameshark 3.3? I have a laptop and would really like to link to my pc. I have already done hacking with the emulators for cheats, however I can not upload large cheats or my save states with out being able to link. Or by chance does anyone know if there is source codes for either program(GSCC or the gameshark utility)? Thanks for your time and effort to look into this, I really appreciate it.

I have found that this works best with older computers, using operating systems like Windows 98, Me, and 2000. You can also do it with a computer running Windows XP, with a few adjustments. Here is a list of tutorials on this subject:

First off, make sure your gameshark 3.3's parallel port isn't a dummy. Some 3.2s and 3.3s were stripped down for cost, making the port useless. It's not a certain tell, but does your gameshark have an led in the front that counts down when you turn it on? If not, your port might be a dummy that will not work.
In this picture, you'll see the fronts of two different 3.3's, the 1329 (good) revision, and the 1451 (stripped) revision. Notice the 1451 has a lot less components, including no 7-segment led.
These are the backs. The 1451 port is useless and doesn't even have any leads going to it.
I took these myself. You can usually see the white led component without opening the cart by looking through the bottom of it.

My led light is working and counts down(I went as far as taking it apart and it is a 1329 3.3 GS). I do not have an LPT printer port as I have a laptop, hence USB. All the programs and utilities I have for the N64 gameshark seem to only be compatible with the LPT printer port and is not detecting the gameshark through the USB. Has anyone found a work around the USB problem? I am sure it will work if I had an LPT printer port, but I have USB.
I wanted to add:
dlevere that is some great resources and I found the level modding the most useful, I recommend CheatEngine(free and fully functional) instead of ArtMoney however(I was able to create a memory conversion tool for the codes). Also the xiaNaix's Tools & Utilities is only for the PSX. The tools only allow LPT not USB.

hey i know this is a old thread, but im having a slight issue, im running win7 and i have all the tools including the registry reset, however when i start the gscc program and click auto detect...it claims to find the game and setting when the game isent even on or pluged in. the motherboard im using dosent have a parallel port so i had to buy one. its a "PCI multi i/o controller card, netmos single port nm9805cv." thats everything it says. i have a 3.2 with the led display on it. any ideas on how to make this work for me?
EDIT: also when i do the auto detect in gscc. it says in "N64 rom" "PC Comm" dunno if that makes a dif.Last edited by Devirus6969; 04-17-2013, 03:29:40 PM.

I too have both these versions pictured, although my 1329 lacks a LED! The other one looks identical. One thing I did notice is the 1451 plastic casing has silver sparkles all of it's black color. While the 1329 had a solid flat black plastic casing but NO LED. I'm going to take some snapshots and upload here so there is more information to be had on this issue. I actually joined the forums because of this thread!Originally posted by rimsky82 View PostFirst off, make sure your gameshark 3.3's parallel port isn't a dummy.
