problems with codes

hi im new at making codes and im using the game genie editer. i got from tony hedstroms site. and i get the hex numbers and put them in and get a code but non are working. i also found a thing that says what each letter is for example

A-0, P-1,Z-2 and so on. any help would be appreciated thanks
