There are new codes. I made and tested them using Gens 2.11. I don't know how they work for real AR/PAR/GG devices.


Gunstar Heroes (US version)


1) 00048C:600E = 00048-C600E = B2CA-AA6N
Regional lockout bypass code. Language depends on console (it will be English + Japanese for Japanese consoles, and English for US&European consoles).


2) 0003B8:0000 + 0003BA:0295 = 0003B-80000 + 0003B-A0295 = AABT-AAF2 + WYBT-AEF4
Game always 'thinks' that your console is US NTSC. Language will be English, and you don't need regional lockout bypass code.


3) 0003B8:0000 + 0003BA:0006 = 0003B-80000 + 0003B-A0006 = AABT-AAF2 + A2BT-AAF4
Game always 'thinks' that your console is Japanese NTSC. Language will be English + Japanese. Regional lockout bypass code is necessary.

It would be cheaper to purchase Japanese MD console than trying to use US Genesis + PAR if you wanna play Japanese versions of dual language games like Streets of Rage 2. There are some codes:


Streets of Rage 2 (US version)

1) 023946:6002 + 024080:4E71 = 02394-66002 + 02408-04E71 = AJ6T-EA4G + RFAA-E6YA
Makes all non-scrolling texts Japanese.

2) 023B4C:4E71 = 023B4-C4E71 = RE7T-E6WN
The first sentense is located directly under "photo" prom SoR1.

3) 024232:4E71 = 02423-24E71 = RFBA-E6VW
Makes non-scrolling texts centered.


I can make more ones like that, but, if I remember correcty, Pro Action Replay's capacity is only 4 codes. To make entire game looking like its Japanese version, you'll need a bunch of PAR devices!

It depends on the game, some games may not have the needed code/data to be switchable. If both games where developed at the same time there's a chance that the code/data for both regions may have been compiled/assembled in at the mastering stage. In other instances it's possible the later region version maybe switchable to the earlier region version whilst the earlier region hasn't got the code/data for the later region because it wasn't made to later.

Anyway I digress, here's the HazeMDD & Game Genie codes to make "Ghouls 'n' Ghosts Displays Dai Makai-Mura". It was a quick hack,..enjoy (for what it's worth?)

NOTE 1: if you launch this game on a Japanese console, you'll see Japanese text.

NOTE 2: as far as I know, European/Japanese version of this game doesn't require regional lockout bypass code at all.




Streets of Rage 3 (US version)

Master code.

Regional lockout bypass code. Master code is necessary.

Regional lockout bypass code. You can use it without master code. Just wait for "DEVELOPED FOR USE ONLY WITH NTSC GENESIS SYSTEMS" screen and turn this code on.

what's a disassembler do you have a link..Is it same thing as hack Dual-Rom Games like Streets of Rage to read Bare Knuckles on the US Genesis like Damin made one for Street of Rage 2..But I want a Code that forces the Game to play in Japanese on the Genesis, Is there somehow a way..Can you fine Codes for me if you can

The routine that determines if the cartridge (game) is from the correct region is different in every game. However, all Genesis/MD ROMS have the region(s) in plain ASCII text at this address: $0001F0. It looks like some games use that address ($0001F0) to determine the region, and some games don't. On the games that don't, you have to find the part of the ROM that checks the region, and that's not always easy to find. In these cases, a disassembler is your friend.
