  • [Wii U] How to run the Kernel Exploit (for RAM hacking and game modding)

A few hours ago the Kernel Exploit was released.
At the moment it can only be used on firmwares 5.3.2, 5.0.0. 4.1.0 and 3.0.0.
5.4.0 will be supported as soon as its webkit exploit is released. 5.5.0 won't be supported anytime soon because it has the kernel exploit patched and the unpublished kernel exploit does not run stable enough to be released (and won't be released to prevent Nintendo from patching it).

If you are on any firmware below 5.4.0 do NOT update!

To prevent your console from being updated set up an invalid internet connection in your web settings or block all Nintendo service domains in your router. Here are the urls:
    Code:
    nus.c.shop.nintendowifi.net
    nus.cdn.c.shop.nintendowifi.net
    nus.cdn.shop.wii.com
    nus.cdn.wup.shop.nintendo.net
    nus.wup.shop.nintendo.net
Now download the kernel exploit here (all credits go to Marionumber1, TheKit, Hykem, bubba, comex, Chadderz, Relys, NWPlayer123, Mathew_Wi and MrRean for compiling the exploit) http://wiiu.us.to/kexploits.zip

If your antivirus software starts nagging about this file, turn it off or make an exception for .zip files and unzip the .zip into a folder the antivirus software mustn't access (any good antivirus program should be able to set exception for file types and folders).

There are 2 ways of running the exploit. If you can block Nintendo's domains on your router you can create your own free domain online and host the .html files there. Google drive would do the job too. But I'm pretty sure there will be some people putting it online on their websites.

If you can't block domains on your router you can get a cheap Wifi router for 10 - 25 bucks to host your own local server (I'm doing this, too!).
Download the program called Mogoose to start your local server on your computer: https://www.cesanta.com/mongoose
The free edition does everything we need

Once it's downloaded and running you should see its icon on the left site of the task bar. Click it once and click on "Set shared directory".
Now select the folder of the kernel exploit.
Click on its icon again and click "Go to my hosted address" . You should now see the content of your kernel exploit folder on your web browser.

Now set up your secondary router. DO NOT CONNECT IT TO THE INTERNETS!
Take a LAN cable and plug it into LAN Slot 1 and the Lan plug of your computer.
(If you are using a laptop that is connected to your primary router via wifi, you might need to disconnected. Well, that's the case for me. Else I can't connect to the secondary router).
Now turn on your Wii U and go to the internet settings. Connect it to your secondary router. The connection to the internet will obviously fail. But this is what we want! The settings should now be saved. Go to the web browser and write down the ip address from your computer's web browser you should see in the address bar of your site/folder hosted with Mongoose. It should look something like this: 192.168.1.140:8080.
Click enter on the gamepad and you should now see your hosted folder!. Go into the subfolder where the html files are stored and the browser should freeze after a few seconds.

If the execution of the kernel exploit succeeds the home menu will be automatically opened.
If it fails it will freeze, produce an empty black screen or a black screen with a message saying "Race Attack failed ".
If this happens hard reset the console (holding the power switch for 4 seconds) and retry. The chances the kernel exploit will be successfully executed are round about 30%.

As soon as the "TCPGecko Installer" is released I will tell you how to connect it to your computer to start your RAM hacking

I'm hoping this isn't a violation of Nintendo's terms of use.

Fuck. My parents updated it 5.5.....
Why won't it work with 5.5? I thought it only got rid of TVii?
      I'm retired from code hacking.

That's why I've got a secondary Wii U. the problem is that 5.5.0 has the kernel exploit patched

Alright. I see. I guess I'll worry about hacking Wii U in the future, I need to focus on improving my Gamecube and Wii hacking and asm hacking in general. Time to start hitting up those documents and tutorials.

Thank you for keeping us all updated, much appreciated.

I've never hacked wii u, however from the information provided it seems that some basic networking could make this easier.
Plug a cable into your wii u and connect it to your laptop.
Go to your network settings go to adapters and click advanced.
In the properties you will see a place to share a connection, turn this on.
From here you can edit your host file on your computer and remap the traffic to any local server such as xampp etc.

you have 1 issue.. wii U does not have a Jack it only does Wifi
so you have to actually do it from the router But that's simple .. since u can also just redirect everything to a fake site on your PC :P

For If you like what i do
