I've had the same problem activating multiple button (at the same time) cheats with the keyboard in emulators, but using a USB to PS2 adapter usually solves the problem.

    • Go ahead and see what you can find. I've never used MESS before, so I'll have to d/l it and start figuring out how to use it. Is there a particular version of MESS I should get, or just get the newest?

I would download the latest version, and replace it with this exe so that you can modify rom data on carts. The recent versions of mess have a bug preventing them from modifying cart data for some reason. That particular exe is the one I've been using since all never releases have the bug. If your unsure about it all, grab messui as it may allow for hacking on this system as well, and provides a graphical interface instead. I'll give it a shot a little later on if your unable to. Good luck!

Well I have some not so good news. MESS seems to crash when changing the driver to support a 6 button configuration instead of 3, which renders it impossible for me to enter the cheat. The next thing I noticed is that this system works similar to other systems that are add-on based in the fact that they are a bitch to hack. Apparently, Doom is one of those crazy ass games that seems to use these extra processors a lot (SH-2 Primary/Slave), and explains the limited amount of codes for this game (mostly fake display modifiers). I did fiddle around with memory trying to locate the area where the flag would be, though I was not abe find the flag unfortunately (seems the game stores mostly 2d texture display in the 68k memory). If you want to still give it a shot with MESS let me know and I'll help you set it up (may be useful for other games on this system that aren't so processor heavy).

          • I D/Led MESS and soon realized it's going to take more than a few minutes to correctly set it up. I'll spend some more time tomorrow working on it, but if I run into more trouble, I'll definitely ask for help.

There is a way to look at the actual SH2 assembly (primary and slave) and registers with Doom 32x and make codes with it, but it's incredibly time consuming and can be frustrating. Just use the 'Gens Hacking Version' and click on "CPU/Debug/32x - Main SH2" or "CPU/Debug/32x - Sub SH2". There used to be a hacker here named Chemist that showed me how to use save states together with the debugger, and by pressing certain keys, you could step through the assembly and see exactly where RAM addresses were changed, and you could also see all the registers. He used it for Genesis games, but I found that it also works with 32x. I wrote a guide on how to do it if anyone is interested. I may try that method with Doom.

I've added several new codes for Doom 32x to the db. Will add new codes for Kolibri 32x, Knuckles Chaotix 32x, and Shadow Squadron 32x / Stellar Assualt 32x when I get time.

              Infinite Chaingun ammo.

Code works fine with Kega Fusion version 3.63 or higher. With most other emulators, you'll need to hack the code into your ROM along with the 32x Master code.

I assume you're talking about Doom 32x? I just added codes for infinite ammo for most of the weapons. I'll have a code for infinite ammo for the Plasma Rifle soon. Do not have a code for God mode yet.

                  • I'm having trouble finding a Plasma Rifle in Doom 32x. I've read the FAQ at GameFAQs, but the level numbers in it don't seem to match up with the 32x version. If anybody knows where I can find the Plasma Rifle, please let me know.

                          • I've been trying to make specific codes for Doom 32x, so had to spend many hours learning more about SH2 (32x) assembly. SH2 relies almost entirely on registers for all RAM and ROM addresses (unlike NES, SNES, GB, and Genesis assembly), so Cheat Engine isn't going to work because it doesn't show you what's going on in the registers. Made some good progress with the 32x debugger built into Gens 2.10 and have some new codes. I know a couple people were requesting Doom 32x health codes... should have something useful soon.

                            Doom 32x (JU)

                            037FDA:EC7D
Start with 125 pistol ammo (instead of 50).

                            0B0ACE:01F3
Max pistol and chaingun ammo is 499 (instead of 200). If you're using this code with Kega Fusion, you MUST turn on the code and then reset the emulator.

                            0B0AD2:0190
Max Shotgun ammo is 400 (instead of 50). If you're using this code with Kega Fusion, you MUST turn on the code and then reset the emulator.

                            ===============

I'm pretty sure that if you get the ammo back pack, your max ammo amount will still double with the codes above. You can probably make the max ammo codes go even higher if you want, but I'm not sure if the on-screen counter was designed to handle 4 digit numbers, so the numbers may look funny.

                            • Do you have any idea why these cheats (Invincibility, All Weapons, etc...) do not work in Kega Fusion:

                              • I think Mez said that if you hook up a special controller, they will work. Don't know why they don't work with the keyboard.

I hit a brick wall with the health codes for Doom. Gonna take a break and try again later. Ugh.
