  • Have never heard of the A0/A1 code types before. I assume they are still 8 and 16 bit writes?

Yeah, they are 'uncached' address writes.
I never had to use them until lately. I'm testing all codes on real hardware and just randomly trying them out when other code types didn't work, solved the problem.

Are you talking about PS1 or another Sony system?
I have not made any codes past PS1.

https://www.bsfree.org/hack/hacking_psx.html likely has what you're looking for.
An example may look like this:
                    D0ABCDEE 0010 <-If this button is pressed
                    8100000E 0001 <-Code is turned on
D0ABCDEE 0020 <If this button is pressed instead
                    8100000E 0000 <-Code is turned off

                    Resident Evil 2 (U) (Rev A)
                    One Hit Kills Most Enemies
                    8105B2DA 1111

Have been playing tonight testing codes for Resident Evil 2 but haven't made it to a boss yet to see how the One Hit Kills would affect bosses that you fight multiple times (although I don't see it having any issues).

One thing I discovered with the code I made where you can save without Ink Ribbons, it affects tons of other items too :-)
Like if you walk up to a door that normally needs a certain key, the game thinks you have the key even when you don't and unlocks the door.
Basically affects all items that needs to be in your inventory.

Items that it does not affect are ones that you have to manually click on "use" in the inventory screen, such as film or the 'cord' item to fix the broken electric panel to close the window shutters.
More examples of items the code will not work for (because you have to manually select USE): Valve Handle, Lighter etc.

Examples of items that the code works for: Key Card, Prescient Key, special key, Ink Ribbon etc.

Also noticed a bit of a bug with one of the other codes, but it's a really simple fix.
Have 2 Extra Inventory Slots Open
Turn on the code, and save your game. Load up your saved game with the code disabled.

Can make some strange looking characters with this version of the code.
For instance, I was Sherry then switched to Leon and he had the short character graphics.
Also, I don't think this code has the same problem of the game crashing depending on if the character can normally use the equipped weapon or not.

And here's a few more codes, that are useless and will not be on the database:

                      No Backgrounds
                      8109AB58 2400
Note: This would have been a pretty cool code. It removes all backgrounds and only shows items that move (like you and items you can pickup).
Would have been a cool code to toggle on/of to show the location of items.
Works good in an emulator but on real hardware not so much, therefore pretty useless.

                        • Thank you Sir.
This was one of my favorite games of the era, although I never played the N64 version until now.

I just (re)noticed a problem that I'll try to address though.
Thought it was the code that adds the two extra inventory slots causing the issue, that's why I added a note to the code saying to save the game and disable the code.
But I think I figured it out.

The code "Use Items Without Having Them" must be the one causing items to disappear from inventory, and after thinking about it; it makes since why.
Like when you start a new game, you get the key card from the dying police officer, then you use that item on the computer to unlock the doors.

After you use the item it is gone from your inventory.
Well, if you use the code I made, and access the computer without actually having the key card yet, the game does what it always does and removes an item from your inventory.
I'll try to make a code that disables items being taken away after use, or just add some notes to the code.

                          • Some more codes for one of my favorites for the N64.
Not the easiest game in the world to hack as the RAM addresses are always changing.

                            8103E3A8 2400
Note: Once you powerup a weapon/turbo, the next time you get a balloon it keeps the same level of powerup.

Note: Getting a balloon will automatically start you with a powered up version of it, and you keep the same level of powerup (or greater) after use/pickup of another.

Note: For example, you can get a red balloon, then a blue baloon and if you get another red balloon it's fully powered up instead of resetting to non-powered up version.
