  • Wii U Basic Recall Imminent?

    by Luke Reilly (IGN) http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/06/...ecall-imminent
    June 4, 2013

US retailer GameStop may not be selling the 8GB Wii U Basic as of June 18, according to information provided to Kotaku by a source the site has identified as “reliable”.

Kotaku’s source claims GameStop has contacted stores with the following message:

Nintendo Wii U Basic Recall - Two Week Preparation On Tuesday, 6/18, all stories [sic] will need to return all new/unopened Wii U Basic (020359).

.. Stores that have 10 or more in stock will receive shipping cartons from the [distribution center].

.. All other stores will need to save shipping cartons for this recall.

The Wii U is available in two models: 8GB and 32GB. The reason for the reported recall of the 8GB Wii U is unknown at this time.

IGN has contacted both GameStop and Nintendo for comment regarding this rumour.

Sad huh? If I had enough cash I'd get one, I don't want Nintendo to call it quits with home consoles. Imagine Nintendo developing games for Xbox or PlayStaion, what a tragedy that would be...

Sega blow their money to keep Genesis live to compete with SNES by add CD and 32X, costing them over their budget at time.
and at time of Dreamcast, Sega was basic broke, and other (Sammy) company save them.

The solution: Nintendo should buy SEGA, I would love to see Nintendo actually develop a Sonic game, and I'm sure it wouldn't suck.

SEGA: Genesis does what Nintendon't (like what, fail?)
Nintendo fans: Nintendo is what Genesisn't (that's for sure)

                http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/06/...ecall-imminent

Nintendo of America senior director of corporate communications Charlie Scibetta provided the following statement to IGN:
"There is a current misperception about Wii U hardware. To clarify: Nintendo is working with its retail partners to simply rebalance the stock of the White 8GB and the Black 32GB Wii U models in the market. Consumers looking for either model will continue to find them available."
