Microsoft is urging users to who haven’t installed it yet to hold off on MS13-036, a security update that the company released earlier this week to fix a dangerous security bug in its Windows operating system. The advice comes in response to a spike in complaints from Windows users who found their machines unbootable after applying the update.

Thanks for posting this, but it was alil bit too late for me. I installed that update from the automatic Microsoft Update. Afterwards, for the first time ever, my 8 year old computer got stuck during booting up. I had to manually shut off the computer and turn it back on. Fortunately, it was able to boot up fine from then on. I see the update listed in the Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. Microsoft recommends users to uninstall it. But I've had no problems since. Do you think I should still uninstall it?
And if Microsoft recommends users to uninstall it, then how come they don't automatically uninstall it for the users by posting a Microsoft Update that does that?Last edited by OldSchoolGamer; 04-15-2013, 10:10:58 PM.Now broadcasting from the underground command post. It was automatically installed on my PC too, although I'm not having any problems. My guess is that MS will come up with a new update that will fix the problems caused by MS13-036. Since I'm not having any problems, I'm not going to uninstall it for now.The Code Hut: http://codehut.gshi.org/

I will suggest that you guys never, and I mean never enable automatic updates from Windows Update. Change it to notify me of updates, but allow me to decide whether to download and install them or not. This change can be made at the Windows Update website. Windows Update is included in Control Panel. Click the Start button, click All Programs, and then click Windows Update.

I already have it set up that way. But that still wouldn't have stopped this issue because I download and install the updates whenever I am away from the computer for alil bit. I have it set up to notify me when updates are available... and let's say I'm about to go upstairs to grab a bite to eat, that's when I'll click to download and install the updates.
Unless in addition to your suggestion, you are also suggesting to wait a couple weeks before downloading and installing the updates? But that can also be risky because very often the updates are vulnerabilities that have been exposed and if you wait a couple weeks to install the updates, during that time, your computer can be compromised.... That's why Microsoft recommends the user to download and install the updates immediately or ASAP.Last edited by OldSchoolGamer; 04-16-2013, 06:01:55 AM.Now broadcasting from the underground command post.
