Is CMX really involved? I saw his post, but that's it. He really should be on his forums a little more often, there's month long gaps in between posts.

I see they use encrypted codes atleast for the NDS which sucks in my opinion for anyone who wants to use their own codes and many seem like codejunkie rip-offs and also gbatemps/CMP databases.

Elixirdream showed me this awhile ago...I don't see a future for NDS GG Codes (sadly).
I only bother with things that interest me.

The Game Genie DS is just rebrand of CodeBreaker DS again (previously rebrand as CodeCracker)

I guess that verifies he's involved. And I only posted this on the codetwink forums 2 weeks ago:

Counting on a US version of CodeFreak, I'm strongly doubting it. CMX is involved in its creation, and look how much he pays attention to these forums of his. You maybe see a new post from him once every 6 months, and it's getting close to a year since CodeFreak was made. It doesn't take a year to make an English menu.

There's nothing wrong about what you said. He really doesnt' give a damn unless it's whatever has captured his attention at that moment. He needs the bragging rights of being involved in a US version of PS3 cheat software, but if he runs the support side of it, he'll lose his hard-on for the whole business pretty quickly.

If there's encryption on one of the new ones, just write a story about how awesome CMX is in a few hundred characters, and that'll probably be the key.

I happened to look in on things and found this post...

So to get this right the new GG for DS is really the returning Code Breaker? The codes are going to be encrypted as before?

Why? You would think by this point that we had gone past all this "protection" by now. The memories of DC, GBA and AR v3 encryption still sends chills down my spine. You would hack the code rather quickly then spend the better part of your night encrypting them. Bah.

                  Anyway...Happy New Year to all.

                  ciao

I've entirely confirmed that it uses CB codes. The ones posted on the official code site for the NDS device are identical to the ones CMX put up on his own site. Which should mean they're also encrypted exactly the same way. I couldn't absolutely determine that due to for whatever reason none of the programs I could dig up would decrypt any codes regardless of where I copied them into the software from. Which is probably user error... I likely failed to find the correct software, since I can't remember what the name of the appropriate one is.

Actually I think this may finally prove the odd mention I saw several years ago about how CMX was the author of the internal components of the CodeBreaker DS and somebody else was in charge of the front end. Though if the interface on these things he's been suspected of having worked on are questionable (as was the case with the PS2 CB's the odd button mapping and absurdly well secured graphics), then he was probably to blame for everything coding wise.

He's got a really indiscriminate need to "beat" people it seems. It made him a damn good hacker, but it's also led to an almost paranoid need to keep other hackers out of his stuff. Like when he basically made his site inaccessible because Misfire figured out how to download all the saves and Day 1 files with a bash script. He screwed over thousands of people and ignored hundreds of complaints to prevent the maybe fifty people who would've used the script properly from downloading perhaps 20 MB of content that was supposed to be freely available anyway.

Encryption on codes is so damn dumb. The theory seems to be that you can't copyright hex strings, but you can somehow earn similar status if you encrypt the data. If that's true, then whatever law provides for this probably says you have to make a good-faith effort to secure the data and the keys, but "good-faith" is probably assumed if the encryption is just adding 2 and XORing with 1. So whatever 4-layer, industrial-strength garbage is probably on that PS3 disc is just needless nose-thumbing.

Hah, that's not unlikely. CMX is indeed quite skilled, but I've never understood his seeming desire to alienate the hacking scene and court only the code-requesting masses and a select few hackers he chooses to hack codes specifically for his latest cheat system. He would be significantly more successful if he were to bring in the general hacking scene, as the majority would gladly act as free labor and a large test group, aside from the increased popularity his hacking system would have with both the endorsement of other hackers and the influx of new codes that would be hacked.

Encryption of codes is quite a hassle...and make no mistake, whatever scheme is implemented, it will be broken, most likely not from the perspective of the encryption itself this time, but from the perspective of the implementation of the encryption.

If Codebreaker NDS did accept RAW codes, The Game Genie NDS is no different properly will accept RAW codes too.
I'm assuming reason for CB encryption for TGG NDS is backward compatible existing "CB" codes

Based on that article, it looks like the PS3 device is nothing but another save manager. The booth-barker in the earlier video made it sound like a proper cheat-code engine.
