I registered TrueAssholes.com a while back to point at TrueAchievements during a disagreement with the staff.. It's just pointing at my old, mostly defunct site now. Anyway, my original thought at the time was to put up a forum of some kind where people are actually encouraged to name and shame all the assholes in gaming and generally bitch about the industry/developers/etc. This poses questions of liability, which pisses me off. If we limit it to only online IDs to name and shame gamers, how is there really liability? You're talking about an anonymous fucking fake persona. Anyway, someone recently brought it up again and we were kicking around ideas the other night.
The whole idea came from the bullshit callout rules on all these other forums over the years, not just TA's overzealous, literal enforcement of theirs. When I was playing Halo Reach like it was my job, I made a list of at least 300 people that AFK/idled firefight for free XP and/or tried to hide for rounds survived on their commendations. Post it on Bungie's forum back then, and it gets deleted. Nobody would do anything about the assholes, only silence the guy who spent 16 hours a day playing their shit game and having every match ruined by these fuckers who can't be avoided because "avoid player" on Xbox360 never actually worked.
Anyway, I'd thought I'd put it out here for thought.
