  • I think it was a mistake calling the site GameHacking

I think that's the reason why we get these visitors thinking the site is about hacking graphics, or translation related hacking. Or people coming asking to hack online games.

Whenever you google certain gaming related terms, and the work hacking, this site pops up first. Which I guess it's good. But not necessarily for what the site needs.

I believe it would have been much better to have called the site CodeHacking, or CheatHacking (although that wouldn't stop online hacking posts). I kinda still like GSHI, because it had an identity, like IMDB or IGN. It doesn't matter what the acronym stands for, but Gamehacking is too generic, in my opinion. Not only that, but still to this day, a ton of people link to the severely outdated bsfree.org and not directly to this site.

I don't even know, but is bsfree owned by rimsky/gamehacking? He should put a redirect or something to force people to come to this site and not looking or spreading links to outdated databases. I'm amazed when I visit other forums and I see people asking about codes, and the replies basically never include this site. It almost always include other crappy code sites, and bsfree.

This was just an opinion, not a bash or anything to the site admins (Rimusuki sempai).

Technically I only own some of the code on this site, loosely, but that's it. I've put hundreds of hours into making it what it is, but then again so have the many contributors.

Lazy Bastard owns the site in a better sense, and it was his suggestion, after consulting with the users at the time, and ultimately his decision to change it. I had just joined with the intention of improving the code with the cheat exporting feature. I don't remember how I responded at the time, but I remember feeling my opinion didn't have very much weight in the decision anyway since I wasn't even a member that long.

With that said I see your point, but I never minded the name much. I'm just glad the community is still alive and its heart is pumping.

Leave the name as it is. I've had the same problem with Hacking 101. People thought my site was about hacking into other people's computers.

Well of course the name will stay, I was just giving my unsolicited opinion as to why it wasn't a good change after all :P

But yeah, as far as I know, this is the most active and biggest cheat site online. Too bad people still link to that bull bsfree database.

I wasn't too thrilled with the name change from GSHI but the majority wanted change so that's what happened. Only thing to do was decide on the new name which is what it is now.
