  • Error using code conversion tool

Am I the only one that gets this error when trying to convert PAR codes for the SNES using the tool in this website?

What was the code you're trying to convert? and use pictures taken with a screen shot and attach it as a post. Addresses like that make it suspicious for anyone to click on.

Just select "Pro Action Replay" when trying to convert a SNES code.

Also, prntscr is a very convenient site, you guys should get to know it.

Well the thing is PAR can't be converted to anything else as far as I know since it's ram. I'm sure the feature is more tailored towards RAW ROM codes that get converted to Game Genie format.

If it can't be converted, then why is the option available?

Probably because filtering out devices that are invalid targets for a particular code is fiddly and often system-dependent, and sometimes code-dependent. The site handles thirty or so different systems, and they can easily have 2-3 cheat devices apiece or more. It probably should absorb the error a little better when it actually tries to convert, and alert you that you're trying something that isn't supported. But, unfortunately, actually setting device targets on or off would either involve a lot of pre-processing and flagging in the DB, which would have to be redone periodically, e.g. when codes are updated or poorly documented device features uncovered, or it'd have to validate every code against every device as the page is built. Both are a lot of overhead and hassle, and could lead to erroneous results that would drive people up a wall.

It might be planned for later, if the hurdles can be overcome, but I don't think it's too much to ask that people educate themselves a little about what they're trying to do.
