  • A fast GBA emulator?

I'm wondering if there is a faster GBA emulator than VBA(newest edition)?
Or if you have an ideas how to get it running faster?
It's running Pokémon Fire Red and has a speed between 350%-430% on average. I want it to run faster since leveling up is painfully slow because of the extreamely slow gameplay.

Disabling as many other applications and services as possible would probably improve efficiency, and thus maximum speed. Also, turning sound off usually increases max speed in emulators.

I know but the annoying thing is that I had it running at around 600% before the re-install of windows.
Besides, I rarely use anything with it, besides windows media player.
      If it helps: Ram=512mb

The versions of "VBA smooth" might be faster. At least according to the readme for the xbox port of vba, the 1.7.2 releases of vba smooth are faster than any 1.8.x versions. My guess is for full speed, a computer running less than 1.4 GHz is going to have trouble with a number of games, especially newer ones.

Ok, I downloaded two versions but both came without programs, do I have to patch my current version of vba or something? Thanks for the link and I have a 2.80ghz.

Is your PC optimized? Try running System mechanic and stuff, stretch as fast as possible. And VBA 1.7.2 Collectors edition is very fast.

Where can I get the VBA 1.7.2 Collectors edition? I can only find the regular edition.

You can get that here: http://www.zophar.net/gba.html

As for vbasmooth, you have to get one of the versions that ends in "bin" otherwise you get the source code.
