Acer has launched a 34-inch gaming monitor for the U.S. market as part of a drive to appeal to gamers with deep pockets and visual lust.

The new Acer XR341CK can display images in QHD resolution (3440 pixels x 1440), and it uses Advanced Micro Devices’ FreeSync technology to end choppy gameplay and broken frames that result when a game outruns the capabilities of a monitor.

The curved screen is increasingly fashionable as it creates the illusion of immersion, where your entire field of view can be covered by game imagery. It puts every corner of the screen at the same distance from the customer’s eyes for more uniform viewing.

The screen has connectivity via HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort, miniDisplayPort and USB 3.0 hub. It is an IPS panel with color that is accurate up to 172 degrees horizontally and 178 degrees vertically, Acer said. The 21-to-9 aspect ratio is meant to make you feel immersed in the action. The response time is 4 milliseconds.

The monitor should be available at online retailers in late July for $1,100.
