The Witcher 3: Wild hunt isn't set for release until May 19th, but that hasn't stopped some retailers from handing the game over to customers early and breaking CD Projekt RED's hard release date.
According to Eurogamer, a retailer in the United Arab Emirates has released the game early, causing publisher and developer CD Projekt RED to spend the weekend trying to get early video footage pulled from YouTube and Twitch. The developer contends that these early leaks will spoil the game well in advance of its official release date next week. While these early leaks don't appear to be widespread, they were enough to keep CD Projekt RED busy this weekend.
At least one copy of the game was streamed via Twitch over the weekend and videos also began appearing on YouTube. The leaked video footage shows off around five minutes of game play.
CD Projekt Red has also begun locking threads on its official forum that attempt to discuss the leaked video and the spoilers it might contain.
"Please, don't discuss the contents of any leaked information you may find," a moderator wrote on the official forums. "If you see anyone posting information from the leak on the forum, remember to use the Report Post button and let us know."
Twitch has also warned users that they cannot stream the game until after its official launch date, though those who get the game through legal means can pre-load it and play it a little bit sooner.
"The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is not allowed for broadcasting until May 19th, 2015. Broadcasting before this date is subject to DMCA guidelines," the official Twitch support twitter account noted.
