It's rare to see news that happens nearby where I live. I read that a week ago and wasn't surprised. I almost got hit by a teen who was driving and texting while just walking across the street a year ago. I was so irritated I held back the urge to kick her passenger side window in since she stopped at the stop sign 10 steps away and yell at her to pay attention! When you are driving eyes up, not down. Anybody caught doing it should have their phone lawfully taken away for a month. No phone for an entire month. Need it for work? Too bad, you weren't paying attention while driving and are a danger to us all, so get fired or whatever and learn your lesson. Maybe you'll join us who walk to work and you might get to experience what it is like nearly getting hit by idiots texting and surfing the web on their phone while driving and you can see what it feels like and realize why your phone was taken away.

There's been a bit of research and it suggests that even people on wireless bluetooth earphones are distracted too, but they definitely are nowhere near as bad as texters who look like and drive as badly as drunks staring down at their own feet trying to figure out which pedal to put their foot on. Every day I hear tires squealing and/or horns honking, and usually when I look to see where the horn came from most of the time I see the person in front of them staring down. Getting really tired of people texting while driving. If you really need to text, PARK YOUR CAR AND DO IT! Stop risking everybody else's safety. I remember a month ago seeing some kid pulled over by a cop in the middle of a busy street. I wasn't sure of it, and as I got closer crossing the street there's the cop in his car doing whatever and the kid in his own car texting attentively. It might not have had anything to do with texting, but it more than likely was. Even so, you're pulled over and still texting? Need to start yanking these people's phones or having a law that can flat out disable it for a month or something as a warning.Last edited by bungholio; 09-08-2014, 10:15:27 PM.

If SMS has been a thing when I was a teenager, I probably would have texted my pare...well, they wouldn't have given a shit, bad example. Someone with relatively normal parents might decide to text them for various reasons after getting pulled over.
"Hey, I'm going to be late."
"Looks like my insurance will be going up, sorry."
If the original stop was actually for texting, it's a bit bizarre to continue, yeah, but I can think of a lot of reasons why you might send a few messages while the officer is killing time in his car.

Well the new Android phones disable texting and internet if it senses if there is movement like it's in a car so the newer phones have this in mind already. Of course the drawback is you can't do 2 things at a time like be on the internet and texting or talking (less multi tasking).Spoiler Alert! Click to view...
