INSTRUCTIONS:
\/ :TAKE NOTE OF THESE TWO POINTS BEFORE STARTING THIS TUTORIAL: \/
~ YOU NEED TO HAVE AN EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE (AT LEAST 1TB SHOULD DO) TO STORE YOUR GAMES ON! (There are only a few wii games that are as big as 7gb)
~ YOUR USB EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE MUST BE FORMATTED INTO FAT32. NTFS OR ANYTHING ELSE WILL NOT WORK!
1. All of these files (not including this 'README') MUST go on to the ROOT of your SD card.
2. Insert SD card back into the Wii and go to the Homebrew Channel
3. Press the Home button and click "Launch BootMii".
(The contents of the WADs folder you put on your SD card had a folder called "wad" in it that contained all of the WAD files you need for this next step.)
4. Look for and click on WAD Manager at the BootMii menu. A List of '.wad' files will be listed (these '.wad' files were inside of that wad folder that was mentioned before).
5.Press the 1 button to select all of the WADs then press A to install all of them. This could some time.
(If for any reason it says "FAILED!" instead of "OK!" on any of the downloads, restart your Wii and redo this process.)
(Installing these will give you what you need to play backup games that you download on to your external hard drive.)
6. Once the downloads are finished, press B to goto "SD:/" (which can be found at the top of the screen where it shows "[+] SD:/ ) and go to your APPS folder, click on "priiloader" and click on "BOOT.DOL"
7. You should be taken back to the Wii menu after it finished installing priiloader. Now your Wii menu should have a 'Blue' Homebrew Channel and a 'black' Homebrew Channel.
The black homebrew channel is the backup Homebrew Channel called "Backup HBC".
Good! You are now able to play backup Wii AND GameCube games on your Wii! But now we need to get a USB loader, a game manager (for Wii games only :P ), and some games!
Put your SD card back into your computer.
We need to get a USB Loader now. There are a few different ones, but the best, most simple one to use is USB Loader GX (in my opinion anyway). I have also included a USB Loader homebrew app in this tutorial.
It is located in the "Softmodding" folder. Click on "usbloader_gx" and drag the "apps" folder to the root of the SD Card. If you already have an "apps" folder on your SD card, click on the given apps folder and drag the "usbloader_gx" folder into your apps folder.
Now put you SD card back into your Wii and load the Homebrew Channel. now you should see a new application added to you list called USB Loader gx. Click on that app and load it.
You should be brought to a menu that shows all of your channels that are currently on your Wii system Menu. Those channels are referred to as NAND.
If you have a Wii Disc currently in your disc drive, you can download that game on to your hard drive by clicking on the Disc button on the top right of the screen.
Make sure your hard drive is plugged into the RIGHT USB Port of the Wii facing the back, otherwise, you will have issues.
(Here's a mental picture: If you are looking at the back side of your Wii while it is standing up, plug your USB in to the RIGHT port. Not the Left.
If your Wii console is lying down on it's side, plug it in to the bottom port.)
Your Wii games will be stored on your hard drive in a folder called "wbfs". All of the games must be in ".WBFS" format (not ISO).
Two things you should know at this point:
~ Your FAT32 Hard drive will not allow you to add files that are larger than 4GB. (Don't worry though, we have a solution)
~ If a Wii game you are trying to get is bigger than 4GB, it will have to be split into separate files.
~ .WBFS (this will be the first part of the game)
~ .WBF1 (this will be the second part of the game)
Here are some examples: If a game is, say, 4.12GB, you wont be able to simply drag it on your FAT32 Hard Drive.
This is where the backup manager comes in.
There is a folder called "Wii Backup Manager" in the "Softmodding" folder. Click on that.
Look for the "WiiBackupManager_Win32.exe" and "WiiBackupManager_Win64.exe". Depending on what format your computer is (32bit or 64bit), click whichever one applies.
Once you get into the Wii Backup Manager, you will be under the tab called "Files".
Now, to put that 4.12GB game into your wbfs folder on your External Hard drive, look on the top area of the program where it shows your "Files" "DVD" etc. and click 'ADD', which is right underneath all of that. It will drop "Files" and "Folder".
Since we're just adding 1 game, click "files". Now you need to search through and find where ever you have your "filename.wbfs". When you find it, double click on it and It should add it to your list on your Manager program.
Now click the check box next to the game title. Up where it shows your tabs (Drive 1, Drive 2, Downloads, etc.) click on "Drive 1". Right underneath that, a white box, labeled "Inactive" should show up.
Click the Drop arrow and look for your Hard Drive letter (you can find your hard Drive letter if you go to "My Computer"). Select your External Hard Drive's Letter. If you don't already have a "wbfs" folder in the root of your Hard Drive, it should ask you if it can create one for you. Click yes.
Now, go back to the "Files" tab where your game title is (and should be checked off) and click "Transfer". It should drop a few options for you. Click on "Drive 1". Then just wait for it to transfer it to your External Hard Drive.
When it is finished transferring, check your wbfs folder in you External Hard Drive and see if your game is there (don't know why it wouldn't be there if you followed these steps) and it should have made a folder of the game's title.
Inside that folder should be "gameID.wbfs" and "gameID.wbf1".
