  • New Dreamcast Indie FPS 'SLaVE' Gameplay Footage Released

    By Tom Charnock

The Sega Dreamcast truly is a console that refuses to lay down and die - and why should it? Sega's final hardware release had a criminally short natural lifespan and was only two years old when the Japanese company decided to pull the plug.

Since those fateful days in 2001, there have been a multitude of independently-developed games released for the 128-bit system, with a wide variety of genres represented. In September 2014, Goat Store and Isotope announced a new addition to this library - SLaVE - a title described on the official website as a mashup of Doom and Robotron.

Until now, eager Dreamcast owners have had to make do with a few promotional shots and concept images of how SLaVE will actually look, but a newly-released trailer from the game's principal programmer Jay Townsend shows in-game footage and gives a much better feel for how the game will play:

SLaVE is slated for release in April 2015 and will be limited to 400 copies, each of which comes with a special edition promotional poster.
